Freesat, the UK free-to-air digital satellite platform supported by the BBC and ITV, has announced the initial manufacturers chosen to support the joint venture. Siemens, Arqiva and eventIS will provide the technical infrastructure for the platform.
Freesat, which is scheduled for launch in spring next year, is targeting the 27 per cent of the UK population outside current digital-terrestrial coverage. The Freesat platform will also be able to offer a full range of HDTV services.
